Resting elbow on a firm surface (a desk or the base of a car window frame).
Malpositioning/inadequate padding during surgery or while in a coma.• Elbow deformities. Congenital anomalies, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
2. In the wrist and hand.
• Trauma. Wrist lacerations, puncture wounds to hand (industrial accidents).
• Compression by external pressure (cycling, use of a cane or volleyball).
Radial nerve palsy:
Common site of damage: Spiral groove of humerus.
- Trauma: The commonest traumatic cause is fracture of the humerus.
- Compression against the lateral aspect of the arm:
Patients lying on their arm for a prolonged time.
Tourniquet paralysis.Common peroneal nerve palsy:
Common site of damage: As it winds around the head of the fibula.

Prolonged squatting (strawberry pickers, palsy).
