Heat Exhaustion
Causes
Occurs because of impaired or inadequate sweating.
Occurs if a person is exerting him/herself in hot ambient temperature, and when he/she does not drink enough fluids to replace lost water and electrolytes.
Risk factors
Similar to those of heatstroke.
Symptoms and signs
General—malaise, fatigue, weakness, nausea, vomiting, and urge to defecate
Neurologic—headache, dizziness, vertigo, and syncope
Skin—pale, cool, and clammy
Vital signs
