National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) myotactic reflex scale



Description


A measurement of deep tendon reflexes. A 5-point scale that ranges from no reflex (0) to more than normal without clonus (4+).



Interpretation


The greater the score, the higher the likelihood of an upper motor neuron injury.



Clinical relevance


Allows a grading of the severity of the neurological injury.
