Wallenberg Syndrome Secondary to Vertebral Artery Dissection
OBJECTIVES
To review clinical manifestations of the lateral medullary syndrome (Wallenberg syndrome).
To briefly discuss clinical manifestations of vertebrobasilar dissections.
To review common associations predisposing to vertebrobasilar dissections.
VIGNETTE
A 33-year-old man had sudden onset of severe posterior neck pain, dizziness, unsteadiness, nausea, and vomiting. Computed tomography (CT) was normal. He was a block mason whose work involved heavy lifting.
